Whenever a new technology is developed from scratch, or borrowed from an ancient concept, protecting its design is vitally important to the corporation. A corporation will do almost anything to protect its concepts & creations, otherwise known as Intellectual_property.
Industrial_espionage is such a big concern, sometimes employees are compelled to abide by a very strict framework of rules & regulations, or be prosecuted. Thus, its imperative that any prototype is never lost or stolen. One can certainly imagine & speculate on the development of the whole iPad process. Maintaining secrets & stopping leaks would certainly be a 24/7 top priority. After all, there's always the potential for some workers on the inside to be motivated by a competitor's larger Paycheck. At this point, it doesn't really matter if a corporation builds a Quantum crystal ball or a magic mirror. Its the quest to develop the technological ability to see through space & time. The past, present & future & all the implications that lie in between the truth of advanced technology.
